Advanced Surgery
After spending the first half of The 5th Year becoming comfortable on routine procedures such as foreign bodies, splenectomies, spays and neuters, etc., The 5th Year hosts an advanced surgery course with our two wonderful boarded surgeons to review more advanced techniques such as liver lobectomy, cholecystectomy, nephrectomy and perineal urethrostomy surgery, along with many others!
High Definition 3D CT Scanning
The Vimago CT scanner has allowed for an even wider variety of diagnostic abilities to offer 5th Years! The Vimago also offers the ability for us to perform fluoroscopy and soft tissue contrast! CT scanning combines a series of x-ray images taken from many different angles and uses computer processing to create cross-sectional images, or slices, of the bones, blood vessels and soft tissues inside the body. CT scan images provide much more detailed information than traditional x-ray or ultrasound, and we are proud our 5th Years have this valuable diagnostic tool available!
Endoscopy Services
We offer training with our endoscope to all 5th years! During Bootcamp, our 5th years learn the uses of the endoscope and assist in procedures. Later in the program, our 5th Years take part in our Endoscopy training course where they’ll learn the ins and outs of endoscopy from an expert and start performing these procedures themselves!
Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber
100% oxygen flows into the chamber under pressures 1.5 to 3 times that of normal atmospheric pressure. One of the few hospitals in Arizona to offer this benefit to our patients!
PRP and Ozone Therapy
Ozone has disinfectant properties using higher oxygen levels, instead of harsh chemicals that kill most bacteria at low concentrations. Ozone is an affordable anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-viral, and anti-inflammatory our 5th Years commonly use for dentistry, CCL’s, cystitis, etc!
Diagnostic Ultrasound
Our hospital performs diagnostic ultrasounds, and offers many opportunities for our 5th Years to learn and practice! Start with learning A-fast and T-fast, Ultrasound Wet Lab during Bootcamp, offer discounted supervised diagnostic ultrasounds to clients, and get more comfortable with this important tool quickly!
Fecal Transfaunation
While not the most glamorous of procedures, we use fecal transfaunation (fecal transplants) to help replace abnormal GI bacteria in cases such as Parvo, IBD and chronic colitis. Studies have shown that it reduces symptoms such as diarrhea and discomfort, and is a great therapy for our patients!
